Wings

Jim and I finished riveting the bottom skin on the left wing today. Once we finished up I installed the pitot mast mount and tightened up the outside temperature probe.

Wings

My son Jim agreed to help me out today and we got started riveting the bottom skin on the left wing. His arms are bigger than mine so I got to buck and he shot the rivets. You can tell from the picture how red and scraped my arm is from all the contortions trying to get the bucking bar in the correct position. We're about half way through.

Wings

I was able to finish pulling the wiring in on the left wing today. I also installed the resistor for the LED Nav light on the left wingtip. With that done I cleco'd the bottom skin on and now have it ready to be riveted on.

Wings

I spent some time today pulling wires for the components that are in the middle bay of the left wing. I had to splice wires for the control unit for the heated pitot and AOA and pull them in. Then I threaded the wire for the outside temperature probe and pulled it to the end of the wing. When I finished with that I riveted the nutplates on for the access plate that will cover the bellcrank.

Wings

Today I accomplished a couple of things. I drilled and tapped the holes in the Pitot/AOA so that it will fit the mast I've mounted. When I finished with that I mounted the outside temperature probe for the Dynon EFIS.

Wings

Today I dimpled all the holes in the bottom skin on the left wing along with all the corresponding holes in the skeletion of the wing. Sure was a lot of holes. Once I finished with that I mounted the control unit for the Dynon Heated Pitot/AOA.

Wings

I managed to find a couple of hours this afternoon, before the 'honey-do's' got in the way, to work on the RV project. I continued to work on the Gretz Aero Pitot mount. The first step was to use some aluminum angle as a support brace and measure it to fit. Once I got that in place I was able to take the Gretz backing plate and drill the mount holes, both to the wing spar and the angle brace that I had riveted in place to one of the ribs. Next step will be to cleco the wing skin back on and drill the holes in it for the backing plate.
