Fuselage

The next step was to prepare the F-782B-L&R and F-783B-L&R cover support Ribs. I drilled them to the bulkhead, then removed them and installed the nutplates. Once that was done I drilled the snap bushing holes to full size.

Fuselage

Continued on the F-704 Bulkhead by countersinking all the nutplate rivet holes on the top flanges of F-704A/B; then I riveted on all 18 of the (1000-8) nutplates.

Fuselage

Van's directions said that while the bulkhead was open, now would be a good time to fit the Wd-610 control column and the Wd-611/612 control stick bases. I pulled out the DWG 38 which shows the assembly and followed those instructions. Once I got them assembled I removed them as a unit leaving the mounts bolted to the bulkhead.

Fuselage

My next step was to fabricate the F-633 Control Column Mounts. Using the dimentions as detailed on the bulprints, I measured and located the first bolt hole and drilled it, and then bolted it to the aft F-704. I was then able to square it and back drill the second hole through the pre-punched hole in the bulkhead. I then used the dimentions in the blueprint to mark and trim away an area on the angle to save some weight.

Fuselage

The next step in the fuselage process was to attach the F-704-L&R Center sections to the F-704A forward bulkhead and the F-704-L&R Center sections to the F-704B aft bulkhead. I assembled the components with clecos and then put a NAS1307 bolt through the holes in teh top and bottom to align the parts exactly. On the aft F-704B I located the F-704G shear bars with bolts and then clamped them in place. With everything assembled, I drilled all the rivet holes to the final size, then disassembled everythign and deburred and then countersunk the holes in the F-704G bars as they have flush heads on the forward side.
